The Rise Art Prize 2018 attracted over 16,000 submissions and was supported by renowned artist judges including David Bailey, Fiona Banner, Harland Miller and Gavin Turk. South African artist Lebohang Kganye received the title award and has subsequently gone on to secure two solo shows and numerous international group exhibitions.

Rise Art Prize provides an introduction to the rising stars of the art world
On Thursday February 8, 2018, at House of Vans in central London, the first winners of a new art prize will be announced. The firm behind it, Rise Art, is an ambitious online platform for the sale of new works of art, mostly by emerging artists. Founded in 2011 by Scott Phillips and Marcos Steverlynck, the company has grown on the back of a rapidly expanding online art market, projected (by art insurers Hiscox) to be worth more than $9.5bn by 2020…

On Thursday 8th February the Rise Art Prize exhibition kicked off with a bang (and many a Patron Tequila cocktail). We're excited to announce the winners of our title prizes and category awards.

house of vans hosted our finalist exhibition
We held the Rise Art Prize exhibition at House of Vans over the month of February 2018. HoV is a multi-purpose space set in the tunnels under Waterloo Station. Let's face it, it doesn't get much cooler than that. Our Global judges reviewed the finalists' artwork in person and the winners were announced at our Awards Ceremony on 8th February. The exhibition was open to the public between Thursday and Sunday from the 2nd weekend of the month.

Head over to the Finalists page to see who exhibited at the Rise Art Prize show at House of Vans in February 2018. These artists had their work reviewed by our global judging panel, which featured renowned artists David Bailey, Fiona Banner, Richard Wilson and Gavin Turk.

Fiona Banner's work centres on the problems and possibilities of language, both written and metaphorical. In 2011, Fiona installed two fighter jets, a Harrier and a Jaguar, in Tate Britain’s neo-classical Duveen galleries. The following year she worked with ArtAngel and David Kohn architects to realise the Roi des Belges, a one-bedroom building based on the boat that Conrad captained up the Congo in 1890, a journey echoed in his most famous work Heart of Darkness. The artist enjoyed her first survey exhibition in 2015/16.

Ben Eine is an urban artist based in the UK whose distinctive typography-style murals can be found dotted throughout London and in numerous European capitals. His work is so popular that David Cameron gifted Barack Obama one of his paintings back in 2010.

Harland Miller, best known for his large-scale canvases of Penguin Book covers, joined the ranks of the 2018 Rise Art Prize. Harland was one of the global judges who reviewed the finalists' artwork at our London exhibition.

Hush knows a thing or two about Street Art. The artist is known for his Japanese-style murals and canvases, which he has exhibited internationally at sellout shows in the US, the UK, Japan and Australia.
