Guidance Notes for Applicants

 

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION?

Submissions for 2017 have now closed.

Creative excellence, original ideas, and exceptional technical skill. It’s the wow factor we’re after.

 

WHO ARE THE JUDGES?

WHAT IS THE ADMIN FEE FOR?

It costs £30 to submit and covers the administrative costs of the Prize. Your work will not be submitted to the prize without paying this fee, which if non-refundable.

 

DO I HAVE TO SELL MY WORK WITH YOU TO BE PART OF THE PRIZE?

Yes. By applying for the Rise Art Prize, you’re also applying to be a seller on Rise Art. Even if you aren’t chosen as a competition finalist, our curators may well invite you to become a seller with us.

 

CAN I STILL SELL MY WORK ELSEWHERE?

Of course. If you become a seller on the platform, it’ll be on a non-exclusive basis. You are free to continue selling your work elsewhere while you’re represented on our site.

 

DOES BEING A RISE ART SELLER MEAN I CAN’T SELL MY WORK WITH OTHER GALLERIES? ↓

Not at all. If you become a seller on the platform, it’ll be on a non-exclusive basis. You are free to continue selling your work elsewhere while you’re represented on our site.

 

WHICH REGION SHOULD I APPLY IN?

It’s up to you. Choose the region that you feel fits. This can be where you’re from our where you live and work.

 

HOW MANY WORKS DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

You need to upload at least 6 artworks to be considered for the Prize.

 

WHICH MEDIUMS DO YOU ACCEPT?

All mediums except video and performance art.

 

PRIZE TIMELINE?

16th October 2017 - 12th November 2017: submissions open 15th November 2017 - 28th November 2017: regional judging take place 29th November 2017: announce Regional Highly Commended and Finalists 15th January 2018: people’s choice award Feb 2018: Final Judging at Exhibition and Awards Ceremony

 

HOW WILL YOU NOTIFY ME IF I’VE BEEN SHORTLISTED?

You will be notified by email if you’ve successfully submitted to the Prize (i.e. paid the admin fee and uploaded at least 6 artworks). Due to the expected high volume of submissions, we can only guarantee that people shortlisted for ‘Regional Highly Commended and Finalists’ will be notified directly. However regardless, we will be in touch if you have been made into a seller on Rise Art as a result of your submission.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ‘YOUNG ARTIST’ PRIZE?

The only requirements are that you must be under 18 and living in The UK. To apply you will need to fill out the short form on the Young Artist page and upload one artwork. Submissions for Young Artists are free.
